GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is open to the idea of publicly debating alleged land scams with his predecessor Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, but only as a last resort to get to the bottom of the matter.
Lim said he would agree to the debate “if it were the only way to get answers from the previous state administration.”
“I am not issuing a challenge to him but since he has refused to meet me for months now, despite me asking many times, writing to him, SMSing him and talking to his people, it may be the only way for us to know exactly what happened and the true nature of these two scandals,” Lim said after opening a Penang DAP Retreat on Sunday.
On Thursday, Lim said that the state had dug out “probably the biggest scandal in Penang” alluding to two land scams that involved RM124mil.
When asked whether the state was running out of options in probing into the details of the land deals, Lim said they were still investigating the matter.
